Brother Beau Box, ZZ '89, has recently been appointed to the Omni Bank of Baton Rouge Board of Directors. Brother Box is a former President of the Zeta Zeta Alumni Association and is currently the President of Beau Box Commercial Real Estate, LLC in Baton Rouge. He remains an active participant in alumni affairs of Zeta Zeta and we wish him well in his endeavors.

 Brother Doug Weimer has recently been named Executive Director of LSU Continuing Education. Douglas Weimer, associate dean of LSU Continuing Education, will assume Pauline Rankin’s position under the new title of executive director. Weimer has served as associate dean of LSU Continuing Education since May 2003 and has held multiple positions within Continuing Education since January 1991. Before coming to LSU, Weimer owned a local computer retail chain and held various positions with Ethyl Corp., now Albemarle. Weimer has a master’s degree in economics and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from LSU.“ I am honored to assume this position in Continuing Education,” Weimer said. “I look forward to continuing the division’s strong mission of promoting LSU and the Flagship Agenda.”

    A $600,000 donation by the founder of Turner Industries will go toward creating a $1 million chair at the College of Engineering at LSU.  The Bert S. Turner Chair will receive a $400,000 match from the Louisiana Board of Regents Support Fund.  The chair is designated to support the position of the dean, according to an LSU release.  A Louisiana native, Turner graduated from LSU in 1943 with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and earned an MBA from the Harvard Business School in 1949.  He is a member of the LSU College of Engineering and Alumni Association Halls of Distinction, has received the LSU Foundation President's Award for Lifetime Support at the philanthropist level, and was awarded an honorary doctorate from LSU in 1996.  In 1961, Turner founded what would become Turner Industries Group, the largest privately owned industrial construction and maintenance organization in Louisiana.  The company has 12,000 employees and ranks in the top 100 contractors in its sector by Engineering News Record.
